AbstractThe aim of the work is to develop new structures of two-layer fabrics with a pressing pattern-forming weft, allowing the creation of a two-sided jacquard pattern, the formation of volumetric effects of the upper and lower layers, and the production of two-layer fabrics with a darkening effect. The aim of the work is to study the influence of methods of preliminary preparation of hemp fiber on its structural and morphological properties in order to increase the efficiency of subsequent modification by impregnation with aqueous nanodispersions for hydrophobization of fibers when they are used as a reinforcing filler in biocomposites. A comparative study of three pretreatment methods – enzymatic, alkaline, and combined (enzymatic-alkaline) – was conducted. The research revealed that the proposed biochemical modification causes the elementarization of complex fibers due to the destruction of the ligno-pectin complex. This is confirmed by a decrease in the average fiber diameter and a shift in the peak of their distribution toward smaller values.
