REMINDER to authors of the scientific and technical journal

«Bulletin of Vitebsk State Technological University»

1. Scientific and technical journal "Bulletin of Vitebsk State Technological University" is published four times a year.

2. Papers are accepted in three thematic areas:

I. Technology of Materials and Products of the Textile and Consumer Goods Industry: articles on production technology, materials science, commodity science, examination and safety of textile, clothing, footwear and leather goods.

II. Chemical Technology: articles on physical and chemical foundations of chemical technology of fibrous materials, technologies for development and processing polymers and composites, equipment for chemical production, as well as methods for the rational use of material resources in industry.

III. Economics: articles on the study of economic and business processes in industry, including integration and cooperation within regional associations and inter-industry structures.

3. The Journal publishes the following types of work:

– scientific article;

– review article;

– Editor's notes.

4. Manuscripts submitted to the Journal must be original material, and must not have been previously published elsewhere. 

5. The following materials must be attached to the manuscript:

- An application including the paper's title, thematic area (from Paragraph 1), type of article (Paragraph 3), the list of authors with their signatures. In the application, the authors confirm that the submitted manuscript has not been previously published elsewhere in its current or similar form, is not under consideration by the editors of other publications, and all possible conflicts of interest related to copyright and the publication of the articles under consideration have been resolved. The application must also include the authors' consent to the processing of personal data and to publication of the full text online; 

The volume of abstract in Russian is 150-250 words. The abstract must serve as an independent source of information and be informative, structured and original. The abstract must reflect the relevance of the research topic, the statement of the problem, the purpose and methods of the research, and key findings. If the research was funded by projects or grants, the source of funding must be indicated after the abstract;

- an abstract in English;

- keywords in Russian and English (5-8 words or expressions);

- a cover letter from the author's affiliated organization or an extract from the minutes of the department meeting (for authors affiliated with VSTU);

- expert opinion on the possibility of the submitted materials publication in the press;

- a certificate containing information about the author (place of work, position, academic degree, address, phone number, e-mail, ORCID ID if available) - in Russian and English;

- an electronic version of all materials, except for the cover letter (an extract from the department minutes) and expert opinion;

 - a detailed plagiarism check report generated by one of the recommended platforms (e.g.: Antiplagiat.expert, Antiplagiat.VUZ, Antiplagiat.ru, Rukontekst, Text.ru, eTXT, Advego Plagiatus, Content Watch, Antiplagius, PR-CY). The originality of the body text (excluding abstract, list of references and information about the authors) must exceed 60%.

6. Papers submitted to the Journal’s Editorial must include the following: the UDC index, the paper title, authors' names and initials, the body text, a list of references. 

7. The article must be structured as follows:

– an introduction including a justification for the relevance of the topic, a description of the state of the topic with references prior to studying it, and the purpose of the research;

– research methods and tools, including the author’s techniques, if applicable;

– research results;

– analysis of the results, highlighting their scientific novelty, and comparing them with existing data and hypotheses stated in the introduction;

– findings. Findings must not be of a definitive nature and must not include information absent in the body text.

8.References must be formatted according to the Harvard referencing system (see additional guidelines).

9. The list of references must include citations to relevant scientific publications on the topic of the article. The maximum number of sources is 15 for scientific articles and 30 for review articles. 

10. The minimum proportion of references to scientific works published within the last 10 years must be 50%. Excessive self-citation is prohibited. References to the author's (co-authors’) own work must not exceed 25% of the total references. 

11. At least 30% of the references must be to publications indexed in leading international bibliometric databases (Scopus, Web of Science).

12. The list of references must not include standards, other regulatory documents, methodological recommendations, statistical bulletins, and non-scientific websites. Such sources must be cited as footnotes within the body text. 

13. The paper layout requirements:

- papers are submitted in Russian or English;

– the body text of the article, annotations and keywords are typed in Arial 11 pt, with page margins (top, bottom, left, right) of 20 mm and single line spacing;

– the entire manuscript must be paginated;

- the length of the publication must be 20,000-40,000 characters (6-12 pages); minimum 10 pages for a review article;

– the files must not contain macros, headers, footers, or other complex formatting except for page numbers;

– automatic or manual hyphenation is not permitted;

– formulae must be created using the Microsoft Word Equation Editor or a compatible tool, in standard italic font;

– tables are placed after the first mention in the text. They must not duplicate graphs. Titles of the tables are center aligned. Tabular data must be centered or left-aligned. Color fill is not allowed;

– illustrations must be placed after their first mention in the text. Each illustration must be captioned (Arial, 10 pt.) Graphs and charts must be submitted as drawings created in graphics editor compatible with Microsoft Word. Photos must be a high-contrast black-and-white image;

– illustrations, graphs, diagrams, and photos must be saved on a storage device, each as a separate file in raster graphics standards and in the following format: JPEG; RAW; TIFF; BMP; PSD; PCX; PNG, with minimum resolution 300 dpi;

– in the case of designing graphs, charts, diagrams, and other illustrations with Excel and PowerPoint, authors must additionally provide original files of spreadsheets, presentations, etc.;

– illustrations, formulae, equations and footnotes must be numbered in sequentially in order of appearance; Formulae must be numbered with Arabic numerals in parentheses along the right margin;

– for articles in Russian, captions and titles of tables must also be provided in English;

– the printed version of the article must fully correspond to the submitted electronic file.

Manuscripts that do not meet the specified requirements will not be accepted.

14. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the data and research results presented in their papers. 

15. The Editorial Board does not charge publication fees. 

16. Priority for publication is given to papers submitted by individuals completing postgraduate studies (postgraduate, doctoral, or candidate programs) in their year of graduation. 

17. Submitted papers undergo a preliminary check for compliance. They are then sent for double-blind peer review. The final decision on publication is made at the Editorial Board meeting based on the review outcomes.

Following a plagiarism check by the State Institution "National Library of Belarus," the thematic editor presents the manuscript to the Editorial Board, which may decide to: accept the manuscript, request revisions or additional review, or reject it.

18. The rejected manuscripts are not returned to the authors. 

19. The editors reserve the right to make editorial changes and abridgments to the body text and abstract, provided the core content is not distorted. Typeset proofs are sent to authors for approval prior to publication.
