AbstractIn this paper the authors analyzed the engineering computer-aided design systems. They investigated problems of the basing theory, formalization of basing and devices layout design, and provision of conditions for units and parts assemblability. Currently available software for creating interactive virtual assembly is analyzed. The urgency and the objective are justified. It will result in the development of algorithmic, methodical software for interactive virtual manual on metal cutting machines manufacture and repair (on the basis of JSC «Vistan»). Decision support systems for repair process will solve the problem of false-based elements during the assembly, accelerate the process of adaptation of assembly workers to a new type of assembled equipment, and simplify assembly and maintenance processes, which will reduce the amount of time and the probability of error for the assembly personnel.
