abstract

The basic purpose of regional planning is to maintain the balanced development of local settlements, to reduce inter-regional differentiation of their social and economic development, their level and quality of life, to create altogether optimum conditions for enlargement of regional potential and realise competitive advantages of local territories. Formation of an effective mechanism of interaction of state bodies of different level of management, creation of various forms of private-state partnership is necessary to maintain complex social and economic development of small regions. This can be promoted by working out strategic plans of development of small and average size settlements allocating special sections on their business development.
