Comparative Evaluation of the Flexural Rigidity of Footwear of Various Types

Abstract

The article discusses flexural rigidity of footwear as the key factor of its quality. The analysis of methods and devices for determining flexural rigidity is done. These methods and devices enable to simulate the actual flexing mechanism of footwear under walking. In order to improve methodology and instruments for determining flexural rigidity the formula is developed which allows for comparative assessment of flexural rigidity index measured under testing with various instruments. Applying developed recommendations allows for adequate precise assessment of flexural rigidity index of footwear of various design.
